61st Annual Leadership Development Seminar, Levels I & II

Dear NTTC Member:

NTTC will be holding its 61st Annual Basic Leadership Development Seminar on the campus of Purdue University, in West Lafayette, IN, November 13-16, 2016.  In addition this year the 32nd Advanced Level class will also be offered.  This class is only offered every other year so don't miss this opportunity to send someone with promise from  your company. Attendees will stay on campus at Purdue’s Union Club.  After many years of heading our program, Professor Rodney Vandeveer, of Purdue’s Organizational Leadership and Supervision Department will be participating as an instructor; but James Russell will be overseeing the program for the first time.  You are urged to register early, as a large turnout is expected.

Offered this year will be the Basic Course and the Advanced Course. The Basic Course Level will include intensive study of management techniques.  Some of the topics being covered will include Communications, Managing Conflict, Counseling and Discipline, Leadership, Your Motivational Task and Role, Conflict Management, and Building Effective and Winning Teams. Refer to this informational piece on the courses of study.  Those who wish to attend the Advanced Course should note that completion of the Basic Course is a prerequisite.  The agenda this year will commence with an opening reception, dinner, and tank truck industry update on the evening of Sunday, November 13th.   Classes will be conducted during the days of Monday, November 14th through Wednesday, November 16th.

Graduation ceremonies will be conducted during the banquet on Wednesday evening.  These evening sessions have proven a valuable opportunity for students to exchange information and views on what they have learned at Purdue, and on mutual challenges they face within the tank truck industry.

Please return the registration form to:  nttcstaff@tanktruck.org or mail to: NTTC, 950 N. Glebe Road, Suite 520, Arlington, VA 22203 with your fee to register for the seminar.  If you have questions or need special considerations, just call Fritz Mead, 703-838-1960. Please note that your housing reservations should be made directly with Purdue’s Union Club and by the November 4th deadline.

For the courses of instruction, the rate for a single registrant will be $675 per person.

The destination airport for this meeting is Indianapolis.  From there, rental cars are available for the 62-mile trip to Purdue’s campus.  Another option for meeting attendees is Lafayette Limo.  Their web site is www.lafayettelimo.com; it will provide you with the schedules and cost (regular fare $27 one-way).  For your planning purposes, the opening reception on Sunday evening the 13th begins at 6:00 with dinner about 6:30.  Classes of instruction will end at approximately 4 p.m. on the 16th.  For those who would like to stay over that evening after the “graduation dinner,” be aware that the dinner will begin at 5:00.  The entire program should be finished by 7:00 p.m.

We urge you to consider sending promising personnel within your company to these seminars for the educational experiences that take place during the four-day session.  Now in its 61st consecutive year, this management workshop has given many employees, as well as employers, multiple benefits.  The cost and time away from the job are justified, as the seminars are a way of showing your promising people that you are interested in them and their development within your company.
