NTTC Dry Bulk Axle Tolerance Update

On July 30, the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee (EPW) passed its highway portion of the Senate's surface transportation reauthorization bill.
The EPW Committee released the bill late yesterday, included is a summary of
America’s Transportation Infrastructure Act. Upon learning that our axle tolerance language was not included in the bill, Senator Inhofe (R-OK) filed an amendment for the record containing our axle tolerance language.
Although we are extremely disappointed the Senate EPW Committee did not include our language, we remain committed to continue to work with our friends in the House to ensure language is included in the House Transportation and Infrastructure bill. The NTTC also remains committed to resolving this unique issue for the many constituents of tank truck nation.  Unlike all other trucking segments, dry bulk loads shift and a simple axle tolerance would allow these trucks to continue to operate on our nation’s highways without undue and unsafe interference.

Thank you for your continued support. NTTC will be sending additional information in the coming weeks regarding next steps. We look forward to continuing to work with you and win together.
