Omnitracs Hosts “Tractors & Telematics: Improving Onboard Technology Integration” Panel at 2014 NTTC Tank Truck Week

Thought Leaders Discuss Optimizing Telematics for Better Real-Time Decision Making

HOUSTON—Nov. 12, 2014—Omnitracs, LLC, a leading provider of fleet management solutions to transportation and logistics companies, hosted a panel discussion this Veterans Day on "Tractors & Telematics: Improving Onboard Technology Integration," at the 2014 National Tank Truck Carriers (NTTC) Tank Truck Week as part of its exclusive sponsorship agreement with NTTC. Focused on optimizing mobile fleet management technology to better leverage data and improve the driver experience, this panel was the fourth in a series of C-level industry discussions on best practices within the tank truck industry since April, when the Omnitracs-NTTC collaboration began.

The discussion included panelists from STR Transportation (Houston Freightliner), Kenworth, and Volvo Trucks.  These leaders shared their insights, perspectives, and best practices. Additionally, the session addressed the integration of multiple on-board technology systems. In this era of an increasing number of technology offerings available to the tank truck industry, the panelists discussed how fleets can optimize their current systems to maximize efficiency and productivity, while keeping drivers safe and improving their in-cab experience.  Given the large quantity of data generated by onboard systems, panelists also examined the impact such systems have on the back office, ways to manage and integrate the data, and how to leverage it for real-time decision-making.

“Omnitracs is committed to developing educational and actionable content designed to help the tank truck community tackle business-critical issues,” said David Post, president and chief operating officer at Omnitracs. “This panel offered an insightful discussion on technology integration and each panelist brought a wealth of experience that complemented the full educational line-up at Tank Truck Week.”

“The addition of Omnitracs as a partner and its strategic involvement in developing the panel series for our events has been extremely beneficial to our members,” said Daniel Furth, president of the NTTC. “This panel gave our members exclusive insight from some of the industry’s leaders who have personally experienced and moved through similar situations when it comes to optimizing and integrating onboard technology.”

Tractors & Telematics: Improving Onboard Technology Integration was held on Nov. 11, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. CT, and was one of the leading education sessions at the NTTC’s Tank Truck Week, Nov. 10-12 at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas.  Moderated by Mark Bauckman, director of sales, Omnitracs, panelists included Dave Bryant, vocational account manager at STR Transportation (Houston Freightliner), Tom Platts, fleet sales director at Kenworth, and Conal Deedy, director of connected vehicle services at Volvo Trucks.
