Ohio Grants Hours of Service Relief for Intrastate Fuel Haulers

On November 4, the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio granted temporary regulatory relief from hours of service requirements for intrastate motor fuel haulers. This relief from 49 CFR Section 395.3 is due to a Ohio refinery closure and statewide low inventories of motor fuels.

Drivers must keep a written or electronic copy of this notice on each vehicle exercising this relief. The relief expires at 11:59 PM on November 18, 2022. Additional restrictions apply. This relief is only applicable for intrastate fuel hauling, and does not extend to vehicles using interstate highways.

Ohio joins Nebraska, Iowa, and South Dakota for recently issuing hours of service waivers for fuel hauling. NTTC staff will continue to monitor these and developing declarations, and will broadcast updates when available.
